You're right, but I'm quite sure Google doesn't pay much attention to social bookmarks in rankings. In my experience, the way to rank is to receive as many links as possible from as many highly regarded domains as possible. This means that bookmarking can help you get indexed, but it won't help you top the SERPs. It doesn't matter what niche you're targeting - whether you're helping people transfer money abroad or selling ink cartridges. The same thing applies.
